Fishing the Fraser Coast without a boat

You do not need a hull to wet a line on the Fraser Coast. You need patience, the current Queensland recreational rules, and a willingness to share Urangan Pier with people who were there at dawn.

Where shore anglers actually stand

Urangan Pier is the social answer: long, photogenic, sometimes crowded, occasionally windy enough to feel foolish. Bay beaches produce for people who walk and watch. Rock walls and river mouths — including the Burrum system — are the other pattern. None of this is a promise. Tide and wind will humble a confident visitor.

Licences, size limits, possession limits and closures belong to Fisheries Queensland and any marine-park overlay that applies. We will not reprint a species list that goes stale. We will not drop a GPS pin on a residential street.

The long geography lives on boating and fishing. Charters exist if you want a teacher. We will not rank them.

Bring water, a hat, and the humility to walk back along the pier with an empty bucket. The bay is still worth the walk.
